Imagination is almost magical. You can wield worlds into existence just by thought. Imagination is also an important aspect in conveying our emotions. Our emotions and experiences are different. The way we see the world is different. To communicate our innermost emotions and thoughts, the reality isn’t enough, we use the power of imagination to express ourselves. It challenges us to think about things that we normally don’t experience, think about impossible dreams and experience stories that are far different from reality. We build our own world in our heads, we build our own universes that convey how we feel and what we want to be.

The wide collection of works and ideas in this show are exciting. You get to know how the students think and how their ideas are put forward in their works. This project is an experimental space where students work on their own concepts and try their best to paint their imagination. There are many recurring themes and ideas. Most of the works have a deeper meaning, it’s a part of their imagination and it speaks more than just what is plainly visible. If we look closely enough, we can see their ideas slowly taking shape, their emotions being visible in vibrant colours and their happiness in each brush stroke.

We always consider the magical and surreal as baloney. But our minds are always searching for something different than reality, something better than this world. We look for the unusual, the colourful, the impossible and are very much fascinated by all that there is. Imagining Worlds is about showcasing the worlds that we create in our head, the world that we strive for, the world that we fear or the world that we choose as ours.

Creating an artwork is an intense creative process. The conceptual phase takes in a lot of effort and determination. Students have let their imagination take control of their thoughts and created works that reflect their imagination. In a way, each artwork presented in this exhibition has a different concept. It has a different mind and unique persona. There are undeniable conflicts and contradictions, similarities and connections between the artworks. All these make a universe that is filled with emotions, adventure, and imagination.
